It all started when…
Shawn asked Lainey out for a Tuesday afternoon date back in 2015. Unknown to Shawn, he picked her favorite pie place for their first date, Four and Twenty Blackbirds in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
One year after our first date, we walked across Spain together. On that trip, we dreamed of our elopement at a courthouse and celebrating with an intimate dinner.
Over five years after that first date, we went to the courthouse in Santa Barbara, CA for a small civil ceremony. It was a beautiful day. You can check out our online album here.
Wedding Registry
First, we just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sent congratulations and gifts to celebrate our big day. We always knew we’d have a tiny ceremony at the court house (it was perfect!), so we never expected to register for any gifts. But it’s been wonderful to receive all your thoughtful cards and well-wishes. We love it!
If you know us, we’re also pretty nomadic — we’re in Europe right now! — so registering for a ton of gifts never made much sense for us. But we’ve had so many people ask us about our registry that we finally broke down and made a little one, with a few items that caught our eye.

We’re also accepting contributions to our (lifelong) honeymoon, which is currently taking place in Spain, or our nest egg for our first home!
